The Association, located in Guelph, provides high quality products, programs and services to its 3000 members.


Job Description

The OAVT Board of Directors is seeking an individual interested in volunteering their time and experience to a not-for profit association in the role of Financial Advisor. The Financial Advisor will be an individual independent of the corporation and of the treasurer and not an OAVT employee. The role requires a broad knowledge of both financial and accounting principles and applications. Applicants with an accounting or financial advising designation or working towards obtaining their designation will be considered.

Responsibilities will include;

  • the role is not focused on providing investment decisions, but on providing guidance concerning the monthly financial statements
  • available by teleconference for the finance discussion of monthly Board meetings

  • provide guidance and clarity to the Board in the interpretation of financial documents

  • review monthly financial statements as prepared by the Treasurer

  • identify and disclose potential discrepancies or concerns within the finances of the Corporation to the Board
