Job Description

Reporting to the CSRT Board of Directors, the Executive Director serves as the chief operating officer of the CSRT and is responsible for operational effectivenessof the organization and provides leadership for the effective delivery of all membership products and services. The Executive Director is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of the strategic goals and objectives of the Board of Directors and for the implementation of the action plan outlined in the “Blueprint for the Respiratory Therapy Profession”.

The position is located in Ottawa at the CSRT national office, with travel across Canada as required.

Qualifications

 The CSRT is looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree;
  • Significant experience (5+ years) in management and/or senior position within the health care sector;
  • Specific or formal courses in one or more of the following would be useful: association management, healthcare, respiratory therapy, business administration, project management;
  • Be a confident visionary with sound judgement and proven leadership, interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Have a strong business acumen to ensure the financial health of the organization;
  • Proven ability to successfully manage and deliver results in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment;
  • Problem recognition and problem-solving skills and ability to proactively achieve results;
  • Have solid knowledge of the professional and regulatory environment of the respiratory therapy profession and/or the health care sector;
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel as required
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both official languages is required
  • Must be willing to relocate to Ottawa

 The following will be considered an asset:

  • Ability to leverage relationships within regulatory and government frameworks, with industry, and with health care stakeholders
  • Senior management experience within a national professional association environment;
  • Understanding of the not-for-profit structure and environment, with a working knowledge of governance structures, policy interpretation and administration.
