As HRAI’s Membership Representative, your primary responsibility will be to act as HRAI’s liaison to both current members and potential new members in the Western region of Canada. This includes, but not limited to, addressing member or non-member questions, concerns or inquiries; coordinating Chapter meetings for local members; meeting with members and potential members to educate them on the benefits of membership with HRAI; attending industry events as either exhibitor or attendee, as required; represent HRAI’s and the HVACR industry’s interests and position in any meetings with government officials or departments as well as with local utilities.
The successful candidate for this role will need to be comfortable in communicating ideas and HRAI’s value proposition; be a pro-active self-starter who requires little supervision; be able to multi-task and change responsibility “hats” as needed; identify opportunities to promote and “sell” HRAI products and services as well as membership. They must also be a problem solver, not a problem creator.
This position is currently open to candidates living in either Calgary or Edmonton. The successful candidate will be required to travel to Vancouver and the other Alberta region on a bi-monthly basis for approximately 1 week. Travel expenses are paid by HRAI.
Membership: Help achieve membership targets for Alberta & BC with respect to recruiting and retention (renewal) through active solicitation (e-mail, phone, in-person meetings).
Education: Assist HRAI Education dept in promoting training courses to BC and Alberta Municipalities as well as local Contractors or Wholesalers who would benefit from our certification and non-certification courses.
Foster positive relationships with HRAI Members and affiliated associations in BC and Alberta. Assist in planning, promoting and administering regional Chapter meetings (including registration, agenda creation and preparing minutes).
Relations & Advocacy and Environmental Services: Attend Industry events and conferences and attend meetings with key stakeholders, government officials, and local utilities, representing HRAI’s interests and programs as directed by head office.
Assist in identifying, researching, developing and implementing new programs and/or services for Western Region. Attend regional trade shows and other events as requested.
Proven experience in sales and identifying opportunity for potential cross-selling
Previous experience in event coordination including choosing content, acquiring venue and attendee solicitation preferred
Previous experience in government relations preferred but not requried
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Highly motivated self-starter who can work well on their own and take initiative where needed.
A strong team player who can work and communicate effectively with internal staff and external parties
Proven ability to resolve issues
Detail oriented and organized
Post secondary education in administration, business or other related field
