Food Processors of Canada [FPC] is looking for a new president to take the association to the next level. Headquartered in Ottawa, FPC represents investors whose companies manufacture food in Canada and market to foodservice and retail customers in Canada and abroad.
Reporting to the board of directors, the president manages a small team to advance the members’ competitiveness agenda which includes: encouraging the right regulations and levels of enforcement; advocating policies and programs that support investment, and; engaging on matters affecting trade.
Communication and service set the association apart from many. Members turn to the association for confidential advice on a variety of matters ranging from conflicts with government to questions about business practises. Effective communication, member promotion and recruitment are also core activities. Building credibility with senior ranks in key federal government departments is essential to identify and prepare for emerging issues that will affect members.
Attributes: Problem solving abilities, energy, self-confidence, influencing and communications skills, and a university degree are core requirements. Experience managing not-for-profits and the ability to communicate in both official languages are definite assets. One must be eligible to register as a Federal Lobbyist.
