Team Lead, Meetings and Hospitality

Under the direction of Manager, Event Management and Hospitality Services, as the successful candidate, you will oversee the workflow and supervise and coordinate the daily work priorities of meetings and hospitality staff, including coordinators and assistants. You will monitor and develop team members’ performance, which includes recruitment, orientation and training of new employees, and conducting annual performance appraisals. You will ensure the timely, accurate and efficient delivery of services, process and programs within the meetings and hospitality purview. You would be responsible for day-to-day team building and ensuring the team goals are met and work meets the Royal College standards.
With excellent analytical and negotiating skills and attention to details, you will manage vendor relations including researching, determining and negotiating annual agreements. You will also review all meetings and hospitality agreements negotiated by coordinators. You have knowledge and experience of meetings and hospitality industry practices related to meetings and special events from both a planner and facility perspective (e.g. venues, catering and supplier contracts, logistics, menu planning and other meeting services).
Your strong interpersonal and communication skills will allow you to collaborate and correspond regularly with staff, management, peers, vendors and other key stakeholders. You will work closely with Corporate Services and Information Management and Technology Services on meeting room standards, equipment and service delivery. You will be responsible for ensuring meetings and hospitality related health and safety requirements are identified and implemented.
You come to us with:
College Diploma in a related field or equivalent experience
Five years of directly related experience in meetings and hospitality and three years of supervisory and training experience within the meetings and hospitality industry
Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation or are working towards certification
Solid analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to establish priorities, take initiative and problem-solve
Capacity to work well under pressure, meet numerous deadlines, and exercise good judgment
High level of discretion when dealing with confidential data and/or situations
Proficient in the operation of broad-based computer software and an ability to adapt to changing technologies
Knowledge and experience with USI (the College’s meeting system) and bilingualism are assets
