Job Description

THE ORGANIZATION

Since its inception, the Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation has raised over $100 million in support of its world-class hospital and the more than 3 million patients who have come for comprehensive diagnosis, treatment and recovery.

Due to the kindness and generosity of many, patients have and will benefit from a number of milestone achievements, including the opening of the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre in 2010 where more than 10,000 people have received their cancer treatment closer to home, and the $16 million “Images for Life” campaign to upgrade diagnostic imaging services that will result in 5,000 additional MRI scans every year.  The Foundation is also embarking on a vision to provide comprehensive palliative care and residential hospice services with a $12 million “love lives here” campaign supporting the build of the Margaret Bahen Hospice offering a comfortable, home-like environment for approximately 250 patients to live out their final days.

But there is still more to be done.  As the community grows and changes, so, too, do the needs of the Hospital and, subsequently, the Foundation as together they focus on transforming the lives of the next 3 million patients.

The Foundation and Hospital Boards and staff are working closely together to create an exciting new chapter of philanthropy for the community.  Incorporating the best management and governance practices that will better integrate Foundation and Hospital teams at all levels, Southlake is preparing to launch the next 10-year phase of fundraising including:  building capacity within the Foundation; fostering a shared culture of philanthropy; extending the base of support in the community/region; and building/communicating Southlake’s strong brand.

 

THE OPPORTUNITY

Within this context, a President and Chief Executive Officer for Southlake Foundation is sought to provide strategic and operational expertise to an organization undergoing change and renewal.  The President and CEO reports to the Foundation Board of Directors, and is also a member of SRHC’s senior management team.

In leading by example, the incumbent will focus on the following key priorities:

  • Confirm, communicate and champion a clear, shared vision to stakeholder and donor communities

  • Perform as the lead fundraiser for the organization, developing and executing plans to achieve revenue targets

  • Expand the reach beyond the local catchment area to the broader region

  • Establish and nurture strong relationships, internal and external

  • Work collaboratively with Hospital and Foundation Boards, physicians and staff to grow the fundraising pipeline

  • Provide support to the Board Chair

  • Build capacity, capability and accountability of the Foundation team

  • Is an experienced, successful philanthropy leader skilled in the “art and science” of fundraising with a proven track record in all streams including major gifts … or is an executive leader with transferable skills in leadership and proven experience in successful business growth initiatives

  • Is able to build strong executive presence, meaningful connections and effective business relationships, internal and external

  • Is an experienced people manager and team builder who can shape, mentor and coach teams to strong performance

  • Is a confident, experienced leader with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills who quickly earns the trust of all constituents

  • Balances vision with performance; is both strategic and tactical with the ability to chart future direction while developing and implementing operational plans to achieve measurable results

  • Is collaborative, open and transparent with high integrity

  • Is an effective change leader

  • Is creative and inspiring
