Created in 1978, Chicken Farmers of Canada (CFC) is a farmer-led and farmer-supported organization responsible for ensuring that roughly 2,800 farmers produce the right amount of fresh, safe, high-quality chicken to meet industry standards and consumer demand. Headquartered in Ottawa with a staff of 25, this supply management entity is responsible for chicken raised and sold commercially in Canada with a mission to lead and drive the improved efficiency of chicken farmers and the Canadian chicken industry to better serve consumers and grow consumer demand for Canadian-grown chicken.

Job Description

Reporting directly to the 15-member Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible and accountable for providing guidance and counsel to the Board of Directors, especially in light of the oversight of Farm Products Council of Canada. He or she will provide leadership for strategic planning, financial management; develop goals and performance goals and measures; organizational development; marketing and communications; and act as the key liaison to the public, government and external stakeholders. The Executive Director is solely responsible for the management and direction of CFC staff and the daily affairs of CFC. 


The ideal candidate for the role must have a passion and drive for the vision and mission of CFC. He/She must be a strategic and innovative leader who will quickly earn credibility in the eyes of primary stakeholders and continue the evolution and growth of the organization for long-term sustainability. The candidate must be an experienced and accomplished senior leader who brings superior management credentials, along with a successful record in organizational leadership and stakeholder relations. He/She must have exceptional relationship management skills, including effective communication, negotiation, and consensus-building skills, operating collegially and collaboratively at all levels. Financially astute with demonstrated problem solving skills, the Executive Director must be able to provide visionary and strategic leadership to the staff, the Board of Directors and the entire chicken farmer community in Canada. Bilingual capability is required.
