Eye Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (EPSO)
EPSO represents the political, clinical and economic interests of Ontario's eye physicians and surgeons. EPSO is a section of the Ontario Medical Association (OMA). The OMA was Founded in 1880 as a voluntary association of the province`s physicians, and has from its beginning played a vital role in the development and promotion of health-care services across Ontario.
Reporting to and collaborating with the Chair of the EPSO Executive, the Membership Services Director is responsible for the day to day function of the EPSO organization. The EPSO Executive will look to the Director for strong fiscal and strategic direction, effective governance support and robust organizational performance. The Membership Services Director will also be tasked with achieving effective engagement of our membership and of other key stakeholders including patient advocacy groups and regional health networks. The Membership Services Director will develop trusted relationships with governmental bodies and affiliated associations such as the OMA at large and with regulatory bodies including the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and work to enhance our standing with these groups and with the public at large. The Director will work to facilitate daily issues that face EPSO members in areas such as media inquiries, billing related issues, and government and public relations spheres.
EPSO seeks a highly skilled Director of Membership Services with proven abilities and experience in governmental, inter-professional, and public relations to provide executive support to the EPSO and its Executive. The individual should be skilled in the identification and analysis of issues related to the provision of medical and surgical eye care in Ontario. Health care and in particular eye care experience would be a definite asset but neither of these are essential if the applicant’s other qualities are outstanding.
This position would be centered in the GTA. The OMA board room where the majority of executive meetings are held several times per year, is in downtown Toronto. Our group also has frequent teleconference meetings that often occur after typical business hours that require the attendance of the Director of Membership Services. Attendance at ophthalmology CME events both in province (about four weekends a year) and out of province (one week a year) is essential to this position.
