Job Description

The Ottawa Branch has an interesting part-time employment opportunity for a service-driven, experienced senior manager to support the Board and manage branch operations. Hours of work will be established between 20 and 30 hours a week and the schedule will be negotiable.

 

Ottawa Branch Manager

 

The Ottawa Branch Manager reports to the Ottawa Branch President and is responsible for:

  • The overall operational management and policy implementation of the Ottawa Branch of the National Association of the Federal Retirees;

  • Branch Office management, budget management, records management and functions relating to research, analysis and communication;

  • Management of the activities for Branch events such as the General Annual Meetings and the Management Services Committee;

  • Building management, including maintenance;

  • Provision of continuous support to the Branch President, the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee and sub-committees in various undertakings;

  • Provision of services to members of the Ottawa Branch; and

  • Supervision of the work of the Office staff.

 

The successful applicant will have the following key attributes:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial and administrative role;

  • Significant experience in financial and human resources management;

  • Good computer skills (includes word processing, spreadsheet utilization, and presentation software);

  • Fluent orally and in writing in English and French;
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise written reports and correspondence;

  • Ability to deal with confidential data in a discreet and professional manner;

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others to achieve team or organizational tasks and/or goals;

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills;

  • Ability to interact effectively, tactfully, and diplomatically with internal and external customers;

  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team; and
  • Knowledge of association governance and administrative best practices, particularly in a not-for-profit environment would be strong asset.
