The Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) is the national organization responsible for setting, maintaining, and overseeing the implementation of high standards for animal ethics and care in science throughout Canada. Since its inception in 1968, the CCAC is the only system in the world that delivers standards development, assessment, and certification through one integrated and interdependent structure. The CCAC consists of 22 member organizations drawn from both the scientific and animal welfare communities, and is supported by more than 2,000 volunteer experts across Canada.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will develop and deliver on a compelling vision of member and community engagement, quality service and programming, organizational excellence, and impact. To this end, you will work with the Board and staff to establish a set of priorities that will provide the team with a clear and focused direction. Externally, you will collaborate with key partners and stakeholders, including government funders and members, with the goal of enhancing the CCAC’s national profile, voice, and impact. Working closely with your team to ensure the CCAC’s long-term financial health, you will champion initiatives to expand the membership base and diversify revenue streams.
As the ideal candidate, you are a respected leader with extensive management and administration experience in a not-for-profit, member-driven environment. Throughout your career, you have created cultures that are professional, respectful, and responsive. Your teams would describe you as a trusted coach and mentor who encourages and supports their ongoing professional development. Your excellent communication skills in both English and French will serve you well in this national role, as will your comprehensive understanding of government funding and grant applications.
