Chief Executive Officer

Greater Toronto Area or remotely1528432

Company Information

The Canadian Rheumatology Association (CRA) is a national professional organization representing over 500 members, as a national voice for practicing rheumatologists and researchers. With its roots dating back to 1936, it was re-established in 1993 as the CRA and has the goal of advancing professional camaraderie, research and training to improve the health of Canadians with rheumatic diseases. The Association’s mission is to represent Canadian Rheumatologists and promote the pursuit of excellence in arthritis and rheumatic disease care, education and research, which the organization accomplishes through a multifaceted network of activities and investments. The CRA’s cornerstone activity, its annual scientific meeting, showcases the various clinical and research endeavours of CRA members and other arthritis health professionals and fosters professional collaboration in the rheumatology community.

Job Description

With the forthcoming departure of the CRA’s long-serving CEO, the organization seeks an outstanding new leader to take the Association to its next level of achievement in providing the best services and support to members, so that they can provide the best quality care possible to patients. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for the successful operations and financial management, team development and strategic leadership of the organization.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative self-starter who is comfortable with all aspects of association management—from organizing a National Conference, to evaluating programs, to engaging 1-on-1 with members. Possessing excellent communications and organizational skills, the CEO sought will be a genial leader who builds rapport quickly and establishes strong, productive relationships with current and prospective CRA members, the Board, staff, partners and industry allies. Drawing on their substantive experience in membership engagement, the preferred candidate will support and leverage the skills, knowledge and talents of member volunteers to help ensure that the CRA achieves its mission.

The CRA operates within the Greater Toronto Area in a virtual office environment where staff work remotely, with some regular travel to Toronto and other urban centres for meetings. Tech/computer literacy is required.
