Job Description

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the Canadian Practice Firms Network (CPFN).  The ED has the leadership of the management operations, the development of the strategies and the actions to achieve of the goals set by the Board of Directors.  The Executive Director is called to:

Participate and support activities of the Board of Directors and its committees, including:

  • plan, organize and actively participate in meetings and prepare all necessary documents;
  • develop and implement the CFPN Strategic Plan;
  • support the members of the Board and provide necessary information for decision-making;
  • identify issues and make recommendations that require action by the Board to ensure the proper functioning of the organization.

Take leadership in the development of membership, partnerships and representation of the CPFN with various provincial, national and international stakeholders, including:

  • develop or maintain links with stakeholders related to the CPFN;
  • conduct research and propose activities to strengthen and develop the network;
  • help, support and encourage the creation of new practice firms (PF) whether in the employability sector or the pedagogical one (secondary, college and university) across Canada;
  • plan and coordinate all relevant advocacy activities in consultation with the Board.

Supervise services to members and ensure their quality including to:

  • plan and implement activities for the maintenance and development of PFs;
  • provide and maintain the relevant information and the CPFN website;
  • inform, assist, support members for their specific needs;
  • listen to members and their concerns;
  • provide ongoing support and communication with members;
  • provide proactively organized responses in solution mode;
  • keep up with the reality of members and provide support in the planning and organization of annual events (trade fair, AGM, etc.) and various meetings (committees, CA, etc.)

Soundly manage human, material and financial resources:

  • follow up work with the Board of Directors;
  • understand and explain the budget and financial results;
  • prepare budgets and reports to submit for adoption;
  • ensure proper accounting procedures and establishment of administrative and budgetary controls;
  • supervise and coordinate the work of central office staff by applying sound HR management practices.
