Reporting to the Board and overseeing a staff of two and a budget of $1 million, the President will build awareness of the benefits of the hydropower industry, while working collaboratively to deliver on the strategic priorities of the Association. As a key spokesperson for the industry, he or she will foster productive relationships with stakeholders, including the general public, media, and senior government officials. Raising visibility for hydropower as part of the clean energy landscape, the incumbent will provide hands-on leadership in gaining public support while ensuring that the industry’s interests are fully represented in regulatory and policy dialogue.
As an ideal candidate, you are a passionate advocate for the use of hydropower as a clean, sustainable energy source. Entrepreneurial by nature, you bring both strategic and operational leadership with expertise in association management, advocacy, and stakeholder relations, and understand consumer engagement and the levers that shift an industry into the limelight. You are an active listener and build consensus among members, while taking a proactive approach to media relations and re-positioning the industry as the go-to renewable energy source. Fluently bilingual, you have established trusted relationships with key influencers and successfully cultivated a network within renewable energies, the media, and provincial/federal governments. Solution-oriented, you collaborate with your board and know how to maximize limited resources for optimal gain. Comfortable with ambiguity, you can navigate the complexities of a changing and developing energy industry.
