With the threat of polio greatly diminished by the mid 1950s, the focus shifted to serving the broader needs of adults with physical disabilities, and over several decades grew to include independent living, employment assessment and placement, stroke recovery, assistive devices and rehabilitation research and more. Today, the organization is a leading Canadian non-profit with offices in Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Quebec City and Halifax and over 90 locations in Ontario. MODC is a well-established organization which has undergone regular review of its mission and purpose and evaluation of all programs.
With the upcoming retirement of a long serving President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), March of Dimes Canada is seeking a new leader who will serve as an advocate for community members who are directly or indirectly impacted by a physical disability. The new President & CEO will join a well run, growing organization with an operating budget of approximately $130m that is celebrating over 65 years of supporting people with disabilities. The organization has been successful in establishing and delivering a wide variety of programs and services across Canada. With the nation’s demographic changing, the need for support services will continue to expand, and MODC is poised to lead that growth.
To seize these opportunities, the CEO should have experience supporting or leading a large complex national organization with both a program delivery and advocacy focus. The role is ideal for an inspiring leader who is passionate about helping to improve the lives of people with physical disabilities. Your credentials for this national role will include senior leadership experience, preferably combined with a Masters’ Degree in social work, social policy, public administration and other related fields. With excellent interpersonal skills, you have a network of relationships in the public and private sector to leverage and build upon. An in-depth appreciation of governance will ensure a trusting and meaningful relationship with the Board of Directors.
