Manager - Government Relations

Reporting to the President of RESCON and the Executive Director of the RCCAO, you will work closely with the team to develop and implement an integrated government and stakeholder relations strategy on behalf of the RCCAO and RESCON.  You will build relationships and liaise with all levels of elected representatives and officials to advocate on issues of importance on new housing and infrastructure.  You will monitor activities at all levels of government, actively contribute to the development of industry positions and respond appropriately.  You will also support various teams and provide analysis and recommendations on existing and proposed legislative and regulatory initiatives.  You will work closely with colleagues accross the organization to ensure all government relations activities are aligned with strategic priorities and continue to deliver value to members. 

As the ideal candidate, you possess excellent written and verbal communications skills, and the organizational awareness, political acuity and good judgement to effectively position innovative strategies with a diverse group of stakeholders and government officals in a politically charged and fluid environment.  You are an engaging and effective advocate in your dealings with decision makers and knowledgeable about the construction sector and display skill in a fast paced, complicated and often ambiguous environment.  You are knowledgeable about the construction sector and have a clear understanding of all levels of government.  Creative, strategic and analytical, you embrace complexity and challenge with energy, enthusiasm and a bias to action.  Some travel as well as an automobile required.  Some evening and weekend work is a necessity.  This is a full time position on a one year contract with comprehensive benefits.
