Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Director of Advancement, Faculty of Dentistry, the Development Officer, Annual and Leadership Giving provides structure and procedures necessary to achieve the largest capital campaign in the Faculty’s history.

You will be responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of plans for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition and will monitor and evaluate a prospect’s giving capacity and readiness to give a major contribution to the Faculty. You will also support alumni and facultyin endeavours such as reunions and selected Alumni specialty days, sponsorship generation, gift-in-kind processing , as well as the management of student awards and funds. Stewardship is an important part of the Department, and you will have theoversight of the Faculty’s donor financial and narrative reports on an annual and ongoing basis and participate in other stewardship opportunities such as managing the holiday card program. You will be responsible for the review, analysis and reconciliation of the Advancement budgets. As a member of the team you will play a critical role in the operations of the unit, supporting our value proposition with our donors and alumni, and strengthening the Faculty’s major gift pipeline.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing needs and contributing to the development and implementation of plans for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition
  • Meeting face-to-face with current and potential donors to discuss giving interests and opportunities
  • Developing and implementing plans to support donor management and stewardship strategies and/or activities
  • Analyzing the impact of stewardship programming on fundraising initiatives
  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
  • Writing project-specific proposals related to fundraising campaigns
  • Developing and implementing communication plans that support strategic objectives
  • Supporting the reconciliation and of the Advancement budgets and the management of student awards and funds

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience in a fundraising and/or communications role
  • Minimum three years of fundraising experience, preferably in a University or healthcare environment and a proven track record of success
  • Experience with donor contact and personal solicitation for donations
  • Experience with identifying and cultivating steward prospects and donors at the leadership giving level (<$25,000)
  • Experience with developing fundraising programs and initiatives designed to increase interest and involvement of donors and sponsors
  • Experience with event coordination
  • Experience working with a wide range of people from a variety of professional and social backgrounds and post graduate experience, and ability to manage complex relationships with multiple groups
  • Proven face to face fundraising skills and ability to solicit for support and steward donors and supporters with verbal and written methods
  • Proven ability to provide customized service to donors/prospects
  • Ability to deal with extensive contacts throughout divisions of the University, the alumni population, senior volunteers and the community.
  • Advanced analytical skills, including the ability to access and assess data from multiple sources in order to make informed decisions and recommendations
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Excellent decision making and creative problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Word, donor databases and budget management
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and sometimes competing projects and priorities

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience with the University’s policies, the Donor Information System (Arbor) and the Division of University Advancement is a strong asset.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 14 -- $79,404 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $101,547. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
