The Industry Training Authority (ITA) leads and coordinates British Columbia’s skilled trades system, working with employers, apprentices, industry, labour, training providers, and government to issue credentials, support apprenticeships, fund programs, set program standards and increase opportunities in the trades. ITA is entering an exciting new phase of its evolution with the recent announcement of an expanded mandate that will see the organization grow over the coming years. With the incumbent leading this expanded mandate, ITA is seeking a transformative leader to help guide the organization in the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO).

 

The COO will lead the delivery of a responsive, progressive and inclusive trades training system for the province of BC. The COO’s leadership ensures ITA has a high performing operational function which meets the needs of its end users with oversight of areas currently including Customer Experience, Indigenous Initiatives, Equity, Industry Relations, Program Standards and Assessments.  The COO will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with Indigenous partners, marginalized groups, industry, unions, training providers, government and the ITA Board of Directors to ensure the organization fulfills its goals and objectives.

 

To lead through this expanded scope and mandate, the ideal candidate is a tenured executive who is well known for their strategic skills in leading diverse teams and has proven abilities in operations and systems transformation.  The new COO will bring a leadership style that fosters teamwork and attains outstanding results through an inclusive approach.  The incumbent will have a proven track record in leading effectively through change management and brings a people-centric and strong customer service lens to the business of ITA.  Possessing an entrepreneurial spirit, the COO will be a champion of data-based decision making will play a pivotal role in developing and executing on strategic plans. The ideal candidate will bring a truly consultative and consensus driven approach to partner relationships with industry, government, Indigenous groups, post-secondary institutions and other provincial and community entities. The incumbent will be a trusted advisor within the executive team and embodies the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion for all facets of ITA.
