The ByWard Family Health Team (ByWard FHT, BWFHT), formerly known as the University of Ottawa Health Services (UOHS), has a mission to inspire and support the health and well-being of the individuals and communities we serve. Our vision is to be partners in shaping the future of Canadian health care, with  our core values of quality of care, innovation, inclusivity, respect, and collaboration.  Our primary care clinic serves a community made up of Ontario residents, students, staff and faculty of the University of Ottawa and Saint Paul University. The ByWard Family Health Team is an approach to primary health care that brings together different health care providers to co-ordinate the highest possible quality of care for the patient. BWFHT staff consists of over 100 full and part-time employees, as well as close to 90 health care professionals offering care in the areas of Family Medicine, Specialty Medicine, Physiotherapy and Sports Medicine physicians, as well as specialists in Gynecology/Obstetrics, Physiatry, Orthopaedics, Endocrinology, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Psychiatry. We are partners in shaping the future of Canadian health care and our guiding principle is to bring our best and do what is right, in collaboration  with MOHLTC and community stakeholders. Executive Director

 

Reporting to and collaborating with the Board of Directors of ByWard FHT, this self-motivated and strategic leader and communicator exemplifies the Family Health Team’s core values and provides oversight and senior leadership for the delivery of high-quality health services. They will carry out their mission, vision and mandate while ensuring accountability to our diverse constituents and exemplifying our core values. The Executive Director (ED)  will implement a strategic business and service plan that reflects the values of and supports the objectives of the Family Health Team, while overseeing all clinic operations, including planning and strategy, resource management, budgeting, enhancing patient and operational flow, and foster a culture of clinical excellence. They will combine a passion for delivering superior patient care with a strong business acumen, and an ability to be entrepreneurial and innovative wherever possible. They will also be a significant partner and enabler to the medical staff on the team. Teamwork is in their DNA, as they effectively manage and lead a multidisciplinary team.

 

The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for advancing and improving health services and will be motivated by an opportunity to focus their talents and skills on our mission to support health and well-being. They will be armed with a post-secondary or graduate degree in a relevant field (health/social sciences, education, administration, business) and at least 8 years of progressive management experience that includes service delivery, health care, community partnerships, quality, and change management. In addition to being highly organized and exceptionally strategic, they will be a skilled communicator, relationship builder and collaborative team player. Having a demonstrated track record of proactivity, a solutions-orientation, professional and intellectual agility, and a high degree of emotional intelligence would be desirable. A background in health care, non-profits, or community health would be beneficial. An ability to speak both official languages would be a definite asset.
