Salary Range $186,856.26 - $225,785.93 per annum

Legal Services Branch (LSB) supports the Attorney General as the legal advisor to the government of British Columbia and ensures that the administration of public affairs is carried out in accordance with the law. Areas of legal advice provided by LSB include but are not limited to: constitutional law; Aboriginal law; resource, environment and land law; revenue and taxation law; health and social services law; finance, commercial and transportation law; justice and education law; and labour, employment and human rights law.

The Chief of Legal Operations (CLO) is a new leadership position and will have a critical role in implementing LSB's organizational redesign strategy. This role offers a unique opportunity for someone with superior leadership qualities and significant legal services experience. You are motivated by LSB’s mission to provide innovative, timely, practical and cost-effective legal and legislative services to the B.C. government. This high-profile role requires an experienced senior leader who is forward-thinking, a skilled communicator, and able to work collaboratively with and motivate staff at all levels. The CLO oversees human resource strategies, programs and performance management within legal operations and leads change initiatives to support the implementation of new policies and processes.

The successful candidate will be a member of (or be eligible for immediate membership in) the Law Society of British Columbia with at least 10 years of Call to the Bar. This role requires a comprehensive knowledge of the law and an understanding of the importance and value of independent legal advice.
