BC Chicken Growers Association

BC Chicken Growers Association (BCCGA or the Association) is funded by producers through an allocation from the BC Chicken Marketing Board (BCCMB). The role of the Association is to represent the interests of growers and provide advice and input to BCCMB who is responsible for advocacy at the national and provincial level, with input from the Association. BCCGA has nine directors who are assigned to represent the Association on various committees and industry initiatives. Over the past few years, the demand on the directors’ time has increased significantly, leading to BCCGA establishing a full-time Association Manager position who will help the Association increase its profile and voice, enhance engagement with producers, and improve the quality of board meetings and decisions.

Association Manager

Reporting to the board of directors, the Association Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial, program and administrative management of the organization. In addition, they are responsible for government and grower relations, advocacy, implementing policies established by the board and annual goals and objectives that relate to the strategic plan, and developing strong industry partnerships and relationships.

The Association Manager will be a strategic thinker who can also be hands-on tactically. They must be highly organized, have a proactive approach, and have the ability to manage simultaneous priorities with conflicting deadlines. Possessing strong computer skills, and an ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, legal documents, policies, and government regulations, the Association Manager will have the ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, and draw valid conclusions. The ideal candidate must have superior facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills, be politically astute, and have the ability to develop effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

Ideal candidates will have post-secondary education coupled with increasingly responsible management experience, with at least five in a supervisory capacity. In addition, desired candidates will have strong financial and business acumen and experience reporting to a board. Knowledge of the agriculture industry and supply management is desirable, but not essential.
