DIRECTOR, RESEARCH - ACADEMIC FAMILY MEDICINE

Our client, the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), is the voice of family medicine in Canada. Representing more than 38,000 members across the country, the CFPC is the professional organization responsible for establishing standards for the training, certification, and lifelong education of family physicians and for advocating on behalf of the specialty of family medicine, family physicians, and their patients.  The CFPC accredits postgraduate family medicine training in Canada’s 17 medical schools.

The CFPC is seeking a visionary leader to oversee and enhance academic family medicine research services on behalf of the College.  Join their leadership team as Director, Research.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Academic Family Medicine, the Director, Research is responsible for all Research Department activities including building the capacity for family medicine research among the College’s membership and in the Canadian health care system.  The Director, Research will also support the CFPC’s growth as a national leader in family medicine research.

Working closely with the CFPC’s Section of Researchers and its Council, the Director, Research supports the implementation of the Strategic plan – Section of Researchers Blueprint 2018–2023 – and builds relationships with key stakeholders in clinical, academic, and government environments at all levels.

The successful candidate will be a family physician who holds the CCFP Special Designation or a health care executive leader from the clinical, academic research, or health care sectors.  Ideal candidates will have master’s-level preparation in a relevant field and/or equivalent research leadership experience. This position is available as full-time or part-time to provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to continue with external clinical/research pursuits.
