Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Established in 1977, BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) is the leading voice of non-government operators providing continuing care services in British Columbia. BCCPA’s membership includes over 350 organizations delivering long-term care, home health, assisted living, home support, as well as commercial and associate members. Through its operating arm EngAge BC, BCCPA represents the interests of British Columbia’s vital independent living sector. Demonstrating its commitment to quality care, in 2013 BCCPA worked to establish SafeCare BC, a non-profit society committed to reducing injuries and improving mental health and wellbeing in the continuing care sector. BCCPA and EngAge BC’s team of professionals are truly dedicated to achieving the organization’s vision of being universally recognized as the leading expert and innovator shaping the future of housing, care, and support services for seniors.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be joining the organization at an extraordinary time in its history, and will have the opportunity to support the shaping of the future of continuing care and independent living for seniors in BC and across Canada. The CEO will provide leadership to the association by enhancing the level of advocacy for the industry, managing the needs and demands of the membership group, building the brand, and being an expert contributor in the public debate on all issues that affect member firms and the seniors they serve. Accountable for the overall planning, leadership, management, and results of the Association, the CEO will promote industry awareness of mandates, goals, and established outcomes, and be a strong advocate of the continuing care industry. They will develop effective relationships with government officials and establish alliances with other similar associations and key stakeholders in the industry. In addition, they will lead a high performing team, oversee a diverse and comprehensive suite of programs and services, manage a complex budget, and support a highly engaged Board of Directors in fulfilling the organization’s strategic plan.

As the ideal candidate, you have a demonstrated history of building the profile of an organization, acting as a major change agent, being creative and seeking out innovative solutions, and facilitating an organization’s ongoing development and advancement in an entrepreneurial way. You have a proven track record of working with government and key public sector stakeholder groups to further a mandate, and have solid and responsive networks amongst legislative and policy decision makers. You are also recognised as a credible, influential, and reliable professional who can be trusted, and you are willing to speak out and advocate with a membership’s best interest at heart. The CEO is a seasoned leader with experience running all aspects of an organization, ideally with some understanding of the unique nature of a not-for-profit business enterprise, and has worked closely with Boards of Directors to guide strategy development and set priorities. Experience in the healthcare sector and prior knowledge of the continuum of continuing care would be an asset, and a passion for supporting elders in our society is a must.
