Director, Government & Stakeholder Relations

Headquartered in Ottawa, the Chamber of Marine Commerce (CMC) provides a unified voice for sustainable growth of marine commerce in the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence River, Arctic and East coasts. Founded in 1959, the Chamber of Marine Commerce (CMC) is a bi-national, private sector, not-for-profit association that represents more than 130 marine industry stakeholders including ports, terminals, ship owners, operators, industrial shippers, and other marine-related companies. As the safest, most efficient, and environmentally smart method of carrying bulk freight in this area, the Chamber advocates for safe, sustainable, harmonized, and competitive policy and regulation.

The marine sector is one of the key drivers of the U.S. and Canadian economies, creating 328,500 jobs and producing business revenues of $59.2 billion, and contributing $11.7 billion in federal, state/province and local taxes every year. It also supports the economic health of North America’s industrial heartland and a consumer market of more than 100 million people.

Supporting the President & CEO, the Director, Government & Stakeholder Relations will develop and help to implement an effective government relations strategy that represents the interests of the Chamber’s membership. Seeking input from the senior leadership and membership, the new Director will research, design, coordinate, and implement strategic advocacy programs that beneficially influence public policy, legislation, and regulations.
