Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia is the business name of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of the Province of British Columbia. Engineers and Geoscientists BC regulates and governs these professions under the authority of the Professional Governance Act (PGA).

 

The organization is charged with protecting the public interest by setting and maintaining high academic, experience, and professional practice standards for over 38,000 registrants. Individuals licensed by Engineers and Geoscientists BC are the only persons permitted by law to undertake and assume responsibility for engineering and geoscience work in the province.

As a member of the Leadership Team, the Director, Registration (Director) oversees the registration and licensing functions for Engineers and Geoscientists BC. The Director acts as a professional advisor to the Credentials Committee, Council and external stakeholders on all aspects of registration activities and strives for innovation and process efficiencies. Additionally, the Director identifies the need for policy development or revisions, and oversees the research, development and implementation of those for the effective regulation of the professions and ultimately the protection of the public. Overseeing a dedicated team as well as a large pool of volunteers, this role plans, implements and manages the delivery of programs and services in order to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization’s Strategic Plan and Registration Department Service Plan. The Director may also be called upon to act as required for the Chief Regulatory Officer / Registrar in their absence. 

 

This position requires the incumbent to have a broad fundamental understanding of the professions of engineering and geoscience and of the educational and practice requirements for both.  Of utmost importance, however, is a background developing and maintaining excellence of process, service and business decisions.  

 

The ideal candidate is a confident leader with a career background in regulation and/or policy development who is known for their strategic impact, progressive management, collaborative relationship building, and innovative process improvement skillset. The Director, Registration will be a proven communicator, bringing a depth of experience building effective internal and external partner relationships.
