This is a high-impact mandate for a values-driven executive who is prepared to uphold and advance the College’s mission “To develop standards and procedures to regulate psychotherapists in the public interest, striving to ensure competent and ethical practice within a professional accountability framework.”

The College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) acts as a regulator to protect the public interest through such activities as maintaining a Public Register of members; holding registrants accountable for their conduct; developing, establishing and maintaining requirements for registration and renewal; developing Professional Practice Standards for Registered Psychotherapists and the Code of Ethics; and ensuring the ongoing competence of members through the Quality Assurance (QA) Program.

As the College’s new Registrar, you will play a vital role in ensuring its regulatory mandate is fulfilled by providing leadership to the College, as well as strategic analysis, advice and guidance to Council on regulatory issues. The Registrar is the chief executive officer of the College, with overall accountability for College operations and business planning, human resources planning and management, service delivery and all reporting functions to the Ministry and government, in addition to fulfilling all statutory duties of the Registrar as defined in the Psychotherapy Act, 2007 and the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991, and the regulations thereunder.

Reporting to the President of the College, you will establish and direct the College's financial, IM/IT, communications and HR policies, practices and reporting systems, provide staff leadership, including performance reviews and growth opportunities, and manage key relationships with stakeholders, Council, external organizations and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. In all these undertakings, you will show a commitment to working within a framework and philosophy of collaboration and partnership with the Executive Committee and Council.

This mission-critical position calls for an accomplished leader with management experience and skills, most likely gained in the public service, the broader public sector and/or the regulatory sector, including experience in human resources management, and financial planning and management. Expertise in the analysis and development of policies and processes related to professional regulation, relevant legislation and government is crucial in this role, in order to anticipate and manage issues affecting the Council's role and College objectives. A university degree in a relevant discipline will have served as a solid foundation for your track record of success.

As Registrar, you will also leverage your expertise in planning, policy development, regulation development, and policy analysis, and the management of complex professional and regulatory issues affecting the mandate, priorities and mission of the College and its role within the health care system. In particular, you will bring detailed knowledge of the roles and interrelationships of the Ministries of Health and Long-Term Care and other government agencies.

Analytically minded and skilled in research and policy development related to the development of regulatory policy, regulations, and standards, you combine solid knowledge and practical experience in applying the principles of good governance with the ability to anticipate, and respond effectively to, the challenges of guiding an organization in its growth and development. Given the high-profile nature of this role, you will also rely frequently on your public speaking and presentation skills, and your experience in communications and media relations.
