Project Manager

Position Summary: 

The Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (CAG) is seeking a full-time Project Manager, who will be primarily responsible for organizing and delivering the organization’s annual industry conference. The successful candidate will be an experienced and proven coordinator and project manager (with event management experience an asset), able to effectively multi-task on multiple assignments, and will manage our annual conference and other projects as assigned.  As a small NPO, CAG offers a friendly, small-team environment with some flexibility in work hours, a competitive salary, group benefit plan and other lifestyle benefits. The candidate will work out of the Oakville office, with (minimal) travel. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the annual Canadian Digestive Diseases Week (CDDW) conference, including key aspects such as faculty and program management, special events, and the onsite experience
  • Build relationships with, and manage, key partners of CDDW (vendors, sponsors)
  • Liaise with committee members, CDDW faculty (provide information, answer questions, follow up on deadlines, etc)
  • Work with and direct consultant(s) to execute CDDW conference
  • Manage assigned committee projects (overseeing timelines, liaising with committee members, drafting documents and communications, occasional evening teleconferences, taking meeting minutes)
  • Assist the CEO and staff with other projects and administrative tasks as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

  • Over 5 years in an office environment
  • At least 5 years’ project coordination/management experience with a proven record of leading projects and delivering measurable results
  • Event/Conference management experience an asset
  • Proven strategic thinker who can problem-solve, put plans into action and work comfortably in an entrepreneurial, small-team environment with minimal supervision
  • Strong team and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communications
  • Well-developed time-management, multitasking and organizational abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and database software
  • Strict attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Knowledge/experience in the medical/pharmaceutical industry an asset
  • Asset: Bilingual in French and English

Note: Currently the CAG office team is working remotely due to COVID-19 health restrictions. Once these health restrictions are lifted, the CAG team will resume working primarily from the CAG office in Oakville, Ontario.
