The ministry’s role is to provide leadership and funding to the K-12 education system, through governance, legislation, policy, and standards.

The Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) for the Services and Technology Division leads the team responsible for technology solutions supporting the day-to-day work of the ministry staff and computer systems supporting the operations of the entire school system. This executive role is accountable for providing information and services needed to support education policy implementation and the delivery of education service in schools and school districts across the B.C. The ADM oversees ongoing operations of provincial information systems including a student information system, a new learning management system, secure internet network for schools, and other administrative systems and data bases used in the education system. It is essential for the ADM to integrate and support the work of each of the other Divisions in the ministry and the work of 60 boards of education and 365 independent school authorities. Procurement knowledge and experience overseeing significant contracts with external vendors is vital in this role.

The incumbent is a seasoned leader who inspires high performance and has experience developing strategies, directing diverse programs and administration. Experience managing complex procurements, vendor management, and the successful implementation of large-scale projects involving multiple stakeholders is required. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of establishing goals and developing people and teams. Strong problem-solving abilities and creating innovative solutions are also desired assets. In addition to the experience required, the ideal candidate will have a university degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
