Association of Canadian Port Authorities (ACPA)

Handling more than $200 billion worth of goods annually, Canada’s port authorities are integral to the country’s prosperity and well being. Every year, Canada’s Port Authorities contribute greatly to Canada’s economy, employing over 200,000 Canadians, directly and indirectly, and providing $10.2 billion in salaries and over $30 billion to Canada’s GDP. The Association of Canadian Port Authorities (ACPA) is the national association representing Canadian Port Authorities (CPAs).

As the President, you will develop and execute upon a bold and compelling vision that inspires ACPA members, the Board and staff, positioning ACPA as the leading authority on a range of key trade, economic and public policy issues related to CPAs. mandate will be enriching and substantive and include government relations, policy formulation, issues management, strategy development, and partnership development. Working closely with the Board of Directors, you will steward ACPA’s administrative and governance capacity and enhance its brand with key stakeholders and the media, as well as the Canadian public. To this end, you will engage and collaborate with members and promote CPAs as integral to Canada’s economic prosperity and trade strategy. You will lead and support a dedicated team of professionals, creating a healthy culture of shared leadership and collaboration.

As the ideal candidate, you are a skilled strategist, advocate and communicator. You bring to ACPA substantial knowledge of federal policy and regulatory development and a track record of government relations success. You are widely known for your bias to action, judgment, and ability to engage people in a collaborative, respectful and trusting manner. As a leader, you are decisive yet consultative in your approach and throughout your career have developed skills in facilitation and stakeholder relations. Your business acumen, initiative, and fluency in both official languages will serve ACPA well, as will your experience working closely with a Board of Directors.
