Job Description: Vice President, Ontario Government Affairs

The Vice President, Ontario of Medtech Canada will advise, shape, develop, execute and deliver on Medtech Canada’s strategic imperatives with regard to industry government and stakeholder relations in Ontario.

 

This role reports to the President and CEO and includes proactively addressing industry issues, developing position papers and standards related to Medtech Canada’s strategic imperatives, creating networks and alliances, and building positive relationships with internal members and external stakeholders including government representatives and key stakeholders.

 

This position will effectively lead and advise on industry and government relations initiatives geared towards influencing political and government agendas to achieve positive outcomes for the medical technology industry in Canada so that patients have access to leading edge, innovative technology solutions that provide valuable outcomes.

 

Critical to success in this role is the ability to communicate, negotiate and present effectively to internal and external stakeholders, in aligning the organization and government objectives. The successful candidate will bring thought leadership, as well as strong analytical, strategic and policy development skills, and a deep understanding of government processes and influences. This role requires the ability to effectively build consensus, engage, inspire and influence a wide range of stakeholders.

 

Highly credible and politically astute, the VP, Ontario will quickly earn the respect and trust of the organization and its team with their passionate, inspirational, trustworthy and transparent style demonstrating their ability to implement strategy within a complex environment among a broad group of stakeholders. A highly collaborative leadership style and a results-orientation are essential to this position, as is experience in project management, exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation and organizational skills.

 

Additional critical skills for the position includes experience in digital campaigning/digital advocacy and social media, with a strong understanding of the various social platforms, including their use and impact on government affairs and engagement with government officials, politicians, and key stakeholders.

 

Experience working in government is a significant asset as is experience in health care, supply chain and procurement, and/or economic development. Additional experience as a government affairs/government relations professional are an asset to the role as well.

 

The successful candidate possesses an entrepreneurial mindset and will effectively and proactively execute the organization’s short, medium and long-term industry relations, and government relations strategy, engaging and energetically rallying the members.

 

 

This role is a virtual/home based position with the successful candidate ideally located in the GTA. Given the external facing components to the role, the successful candidate will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 – subject to valid exemption under the Ontario Human Rights Code (fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as determined by applicable public health authorities and ministries of health).
