Since 1920, the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce (SCC) has represented the Saskatchewan business community, advocating on behalf of all types and scales of businesses, local chambers of commerce, and professional associations. SCC is recognized by business, citizens and government as the Voice of Saskatchewan business due to its thought leadership, resourcefulness and the ability to successfully connect people to each other, and to new opportunities and ideas.

Chief Executive Officer

Reporting to a committed volunteer Board of Directors, the CEO holds a key leadership position and is responsible for operational leadership and management of all activities of the Chamber according to the strategic plan including vision, mission and values set by the Board and in support of the goals and objectives of SCC. Responsibilities include internal and external communications and public relations, marketing, budgets, human resources management, and assistance with policy/position development as determined by the appropriate Board bodies.

You are able to envision and conceptualize the evolution required to advance a non-partisan, member driven organization, and effectively ensure operationalization and evidence-based evaluation of that evolution that is needed to propel SCC to the next level.  You are adept at advocating and advancing the interests of the greater community, balancing management of current programs while continuously seeking out new initiatives and relationship with business, government, local chambers, and community organizations that will positively influence the province’s economic landscape. 

Your preparation for this role likely includes:

  • a university degree in public administration, business, commerce, political science, regional and community planning or a related field; or comparable professional training and experience attained through industry or association service
  • 10+ years of progressive management experience working with a board, board executives and committees of a board
  • ICD.D designation or willingness to acquire
  • knowledge of policies and by-laws at the local, regional, provincial, and federal levels
  • strong leadership and management experience, including human resources, operations, financial and change management
  • demonstrated ability and successful track record of building and maintaining a deep and wide network within a stakeholder community
  • strong business planning experience with the ability to think strategically and innovatively
  • experience in community engagement and working with member organizations
  • genuine commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
  • knowledge of chambers of commerce and their value proposition
