Executive Director

The Catholic Children’s Aid Foundation (CCAF) is the charitable arm of the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto (CCAS), with approximately $60 million in assets. Formerly known as the Hope for Children Fund, it was created in 2019 to manage and allocate the financial assets for use by the Society to advance child and family welfare through financial support and funding of education, research and prevention programs. The CCAF’s mission is to support Catholic children and families in need to thrive – physically, spiritually and intellectually – while ensuring the long-term viability of the Foundation through capital preservation and inspired giving by the Catholic community.

The CCAF is seeking a new Executive Director (ED) to provide leadership to ensure that the Foundation is operating at the highest level to fulfil its mission and mandate. The ED is responsible for managing the relationship with the CCAS (a key stakeholder and strategic partner). In conjunction with the CCAS, the ED also adjudicates program funding requests and recommends appropriate programs to the Board for approval and manages the financial operations and reporting for the Foundation as required by the CRA. Moreover, The Executive Director provides critical support to the Foundation’s Board of Directors, playing a leading role in strategy development and setting the board agenda and discussions. In partnership with the CCAS, the CCAF Board and the broader Catholic community, the ED will be helping to advance the welfare of children and families for the diverse communities of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

The new ED will be a strategic self-starter, comfortable working independently in a small organization, with a proven track record as an administrator and manager of complex budgets for community development purposes. Strong financial literacy, especially with investments and real estate, will be critical for success, as will exceptional communication skills to promote the work of the CCAF within the Catholic community and the child and family welfare sector. This is a compelling opportunity for someone with five to ten years’ progressive leadership experience in a charitable foundation or related not-for-profit organization, or senior leadership roles in the private sector with finance background (e.g. former CFO) and related academic qualifications (e.g. MBA, CPA, CFA). A passion for children’s rights and social justice issues and basic respect for and comfort working with a Catholic audience and in a faith-based organization are a given.
