Chief Operating Officer

Reporting to the Partnership, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a highly skilled executive providing professional leadership and fiscal and operational expertise. Exercising broad decision-making authority delegated by the Partnership, the COO directs all aspects of the financial management, business operations, marketing, human resources, information technology and facilities teams, all of which support the client-centric legal practice of the firm.  Additionally, the COO will collaborate with the Partnership to develop and validate the firm’s key performance indicators, designing and executing strategies that create and drive operational effectiveness and supporting and enabling the growth of the business.

The successful candidate will be an innovative and financially savvy leader with a strong understanding of a client-centric, professional services business.  Possessing a university degree in a relevant field of study (law, business, finance, accounting), and a passion for excellence and service, they will foster a positive work environment to enable all members of the firm to execute, deliver and fulfill their responsibilities.  Strong business acumen and superior communication skills, relationship- and team-building skills, and a hands-on yet empowering leadership style, as needed, will be critical.  They are a change agent with demonstrated success in achieving positive results. Unquestioned integrity, a high degree of emotional intelligence and maturity, and a good sense of humour will also be important traits of the successful candidate. Proficiency in both official languages would be an asset.
