Founded in 1978, East Kootenay Addiction Services Society (EKASS) is a registered charitable nonprofit organization that works to foster the well-being of people and communities through counseling services, education, and harm reduction programs in the East Kootenay. Funded by the Interior Health Authority, EKASS provides free services adhering to the biopsychosocial-spiritual model of addictions and from a harm reduction philosophy, with offices in Cranbrook, Kimberley, Fernie, Invermere, Creston, and Golden. Reporting to the Board of Directors and based out of the Cranbrook office, the Executive Director is the chief executive officer and is responsible and accountable for providing leadership in all aspects, services, and activities of the Society. This includes program planning, human resources, and fiscal and operational management. The Executive Director ensures the development, implementation, and evaluation of the EKASS’s strategic and operational plans. The Executive Director fosters and leads EKASS’s relationships with the Board of Directors, funders, all levels of government, advocacy organizations, other community agencies, private and public sector organizations, special interest groups, and members of the public. This position is .8 FTE with a salary range of $80,000 - $92,000 depending on experience. The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline, combined with at least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership position in the community services or broad public service sectors.
