RVTTC, a fast growing non-profit, professional association, is looking for a new Executive Director!

About RVTTC:

The Registered Veterinary Technologists and Technicians of Canada (RVTTC) is a not-for-profit organization representing roughly 10,000 RVTs across Canada on national and international issues. Supporting member provincial veterinary technician and technologist associations is its mission to unite, advance and strengthen the Registered Veterinary Technician/Technologist profession.

Reports to:

RVTTC Board of Directors

Location:

Virtual, anywhere in Canada.

Hours:

Permanent, full time, salary position. Some flexibility is required for evening/weekend meetings and travel. Must be able to travel for business across Canada and to the USA.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director who serves as the chief staff person, will implement RVTTC’s vision, mission, goals, strategic plan and policies. They plan, organize, direct, and lead programs and initiatives to ensure that the organization’s objectives are achieved, that plans are fulfilled and member needs are met.

The Executive Director is responsible for the development and implementation of the organization’s long-term strategies and tactical plans as well as the overall management of its day-to-day operations, finances and staff.

The Executive Director is the chief advisor to the Board and its committees, and develops and maintains productive working relationships both with provincial and national government bodies and with international organizations under the CETA and TPP agreements.

Working closely with all stakeholders, the Executive Director ensures the Association remains innovative and is constantly looking for new ways to fulfill its mandate.

The new Executive Director will inherit a widely respected organization, upon which they will need to build by focusing on RVTTC’s strategic priorities in their first 6-12 months.

Experience and Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be an experienced leader with an ability to unify and motivate board, staff and stakeholders. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of working with diverse community and industry leaders to further a mission or mandate and is seen as a trustworthy, credible, influential and reliable professional. They are passionate about RVTTC’s mission and are energized to speak on behalf of the association with confidence and tact.

Other experience and qualifications required are:

  • Three or more years of leadership/management experience preferably in an association, non-profit or certification body.
  • Some experience with animal health, veterinary or human-animal bond is preferred but not required.
  • A collaborative and transparent leadership style and excellent people management skills.
  • Experience working with a board of directors to guide strategy development, set priorities and effectively implement action plans.
  • Experience leading change, ideally in a regulated, public sector and/or changing environment.
  • Strong communication skills, including effective public speaking, written and oral communications. English is essential, French is a definite asset.
  • Solid management skills, including team management, planning, delegating, program development and management, project management and financial management.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or similar
  • Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation

Compensation:

Salary is competitive for Executive Director positions within association management and regulatory/certification sectors.
