The Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General shares the vision of a safe, secure, just and resilient British Columbia with the Ministry of Attorney General. The ministries work together to administer justice, deliver public safety services and programs, and provide legal advice to government.

RoadSafetyBC is the lead provincial agency for road safety and is responsible for setting strategic direction and establishing a provincial approach to road safety throughout British Columbia. RoadSafetyBC regulates drivers and operates a number of programs to help regulate the safe and responsible operation of motor vehicles in the province.

The Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) RoadSafetyBC/Superintendent of Motor Vehicles provides leadership and oversight of the provincial road safety matters. This position has particular importance within the Justice Sector as road safety matters represent the most frequent point of citizen contact with the justice system. The ADM is accountable for protecting the public interest through standards, programs and practices that address the behaviour of the 3.1 million drivers in B.C. This position also plays a key role in communicating on road safety matters on behalf of the BC Government.

The incumbent is a seasoned senior leader with extensive and varied executive/senior management experience in complex multi-stakeholder environments combined with a relevant post-secondary education. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. This role demands significant experience in and understanding of the structures, processes and practices of government as well as a demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders across government.
