The Ministry of Children and Family Development works with provincial ministry partners to build an integrated system of programs and services to support families and communities.
The Service Delivery Division (SDD) is responsible for providing effective services to support healthy, safe environments where children are connected to their families and communities. The primary focus of service delivery is to support vulnerable children, youth and families using a child/family-centered approach that builds on their existing resources and capacities.
The Assistant Deputy Minister, SDD is responsible for the operational delivery of a full range of regionally and centrally based services and support programs as delivered throughout the province, as well as developing and maintaining strong relationships with Indigenous governing bodies, ministry clients, partners, Indigenous child and family service agencies, stakeholders and professional bodies. SDD staff also work in collaboration with other ministry divisions, social sector partners, schools, health authorities, and Indigenous communities to implement ministry and government strategic initiatives.
This is a complex operational role that combines operational expertise and strategic decision-making to ensure that the ministry is proactive on improving services to children, youth and families. The position is responsible for the operational implementation of critical transformational initiatives in MCFD including changing the system of in-care services, focusing on family preservation, youth transitions transformation and children and youth with support needs transformation. In addition, the position leads front line reconciliation with Indigenous peoples and the implementation of transformation services to support that reconciliation. The position is also responsible for analyzing operational challenges and designing and implementing, in collaboration with colleagues and partners, solutions to those challenges in order modernize the delivery of services.
The ideal candidate for this role is an experienced senior leader who is measured, calm and rational in the face of complex operational and service delivery challenges. A brilliant communicator, trusted colleague and proven issues manager, they will be able to impact a wide range of people and services with accountability, creativity and integrity. Key in this role is a proven record of successful problem solving, developing people and teams and building collaborative internal and external relationships.
