President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The Calgary Affordable Housing Foundation (CAHF) is a community-driven, community-led permanent foundation. Our mandate is to facilitate philanthropic, public and private investment partnerships to increase the stock of affordable homes for Calgarians in need. We are a dedicated resource for non-profit affordable housing agencies, providing grants and running campaigns for capital projects. Our innovative funding framework has been endorsed by the CMHC as a National Housing Strategy Demonstration Initiative. Through our work with CMHC, we are implementing our made-in-Calgary affordable housing approach as a scalable blueprint to help communities across Canada address their own needs for safe and affordable housing. The CAHF works as an umbrella organization for non-profit housing providers designed to facilitate relationships across funders and build community capacity. The CAHF’s goal is to increase and accelerate capital investment to bring more units to market faster.


Reporting to the Board of the Directors, the Calgary Affordable Housing Foundation’s (CAHF) newly founded President and Chief Executive Officer is positioned to contribute significantly to our community. This passionate and forward-thinking leader will identify and act on opportunities to achieve the vision, goals and outcomes defined by the Board of Directors. At an operational level, the CEO will be responsible for the day-to-day management of CAHF, including budgetary and administrative planning.


As a community focused leader, the CEO will have demonstrated experience in building and managing critical relationships among a diverse stakeholder group, including maintaining and building partnerships with up to 60 agencies supporting affordable housing in Calgary. With credibility in the community, the CEO will have a deep knowledge of the affordable housing sector and a passion for being involved in a collaborative solution to the need for housing. Acting to ensure the sustainability of the organization and its goals, the CEO will be innovative and creative in leading the organization’s fundraising, grant proposal writing, marketing, communications, and meaningful community outreach.


The ideal candidate will have a university degree in a related field, or equivalent, coupled with strong organizational and leadership capabilities. Proven experience working with a Board of Directors, and partnering with multi-stakeholder organizations is required, along with exceptional relationship building, fundraising, and communication skills.
