Business Development Associate

Located in North York, the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) is a not-for-profit professional association, providing advocacy and member services in support of the economic and professional interests of engineers across Ontario.

The Business Development Associate’s mission is to contribute to the growth of OSPE by soliciting prospective participants and companies to offer them OSPE’s suite of products and services including group membership, training solutions based on our wide range of courses and certifications & conference and gala partnerships. Reporting to the VP, Member Experience and Corporate Strategy, the Business Development Associate will be responsible for selling OSPE’s suite of products and services including group membership, engineering academy & events. You will prospect and qualify new and returning business opportunities to drive sustainable revenues derived from membership related services. Compensation will be based on achievable targets with additional consideration for over-achieving those targets.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and deepen relationships with external stakeholders, businesses, and corporations in order to attract new corporate partnerships and maintain current ones.
  • Identify training and capacity building needs at both the individual and organizational levels.
  • Create and deliver presentations tailored to client interests and needs.
  • Prepare proposals for private courses adapted to identified client needs.
  • Clearly communicate OSPE’s value proposition and offerings.
  • Create customer lists categorized by interest and industry, which can be used to keep customers informed about courses and products that may be of direct interest to them.
  • Identify the right customer contacts responsible for employee training, professional development, or human resources.
  • Know and be able to share information regarding Engineering Academy’s courses and learning paths.
  • Follow up with clients post-training to determine the effectiveness of the training delivered and assess the potential for future training.
  • Manage all administration duties, including maintaining accurate, up-to-date databases/records, mailing lists, resource materials for corporate partners.

Qualifications:

You will be a strong team player and will possess:

  • A degree in commerce, business, communications, or marketing is an asset.
  • Experience in a sales or business development environment.
  • Proven track record of working in sales and achieving targets.
  • Experience in delivering compelling presentations to clients.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Effective communication, listening and time management skills.
  • Ability to speak with persuasion and interest in presenting to several clients per day.
  • Comfortable with online tools and working with integrated systems, such as Hubspot, Zoominfo, Teams etc.
  • Own a car and have a valid drivers license.
