Founded in 1960, the Canadian Nuclear Association (CNA) is the industry voice for nuclear energy. As a non-profit industry association, CNA advocates passionately for the development and growth of nuclear technologies for peaceful purposes. A $13-billion industry that provides 15% of Canada’s electricity, nuclear power is a safe, clean, affordable, and reliable energy source—essential to the country’s energy future. Beyond power generation, nuclear technology plays a critical role in sectors such as medicine, scientific research, food safety, and environmental sustainability.
The Canadian Nuclear Association is now seeking its next President and CEO (CEO) to lead the organization in advocating for the sector, raising public and stakeholder awareness, and positioning nuclear as a preferred energy source.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will guide CNA through a pivotal period of industry evolution, shaping its strategic direction and strengthening its role as a leading policy advocate. The incumbent will build strong relationships across government, industry, and key stakeholder groups, ensuring the nuclear sector’s interests are effectively represented both in Canada and internationally. As the public face of CNA, they will drive public engagement, influence regulatory and policy discussions, and unify the industry’s voice. Beyond strategy, the CEO will be a hands-on leader, executing initiatives that elevate the profile of nuclear energy and deliver tangible results.
As an ideal candidate, you have proven leadership experience in the nuclear sector or a highly related industry and bring credibility, gravitas, and deep policy expertise to the role. You possess strong political acumen and understand how to navigate complex stakeholder environments. A skilled consensus-builder, you proactively engage with government leaders, media, and industry partners to strengthen CNA’s influence and visibility. Solution-oriented and collaborative, you know how to maximize limited resources for optimal impact and have demonstrated success in driving advocacy efforts, managing regulatory challenges, and leading public engagement. Bilingualism is an asset.
This is a rare opportunity to lead a high-impact organization at a critical juncture for Canada's energy future. If you are a strategic leader with a passion for nuclear energy and a strong ability to influence policy and public perception, we invite you to explore this exciting opportunity.
