Dedicated to animal welfare and advocacy across the province, the Ontario SPCA works through a variety of community support services with a dedicated team of professionals and hundreds of volunteers to make a meaningful, province-wide impact for animals and the communities that care for them.

With a network of locations, in 2024 alone, the Ontario SPCA and its partners supported thousands of adoptions, tens of thousands of veterinary procedures and more than one million meals to dogs, cats and small animals.

The Ontario SPCA is a not-for-profit organization and a registered charity. It has existed for more than 150 years.

Having undergone significant transformation in recent years, the organization has a clear vision, solidified its reputation as a leader in animal welfare, built a collaborative and mission-driven culture and established a strong governance structure.

The next President and CEO

With a strong leadership team and a clear strategic vision, the next President and CEO will lead the Ontario SPCA into a new chapter of growth and innovation with empathy, pragmatism and a focus on meaningful partnerships.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, you will oversee Ontario SPCA’s multi-site operations, ensuring organizational effectiveness, financial sustainability and sector leadership.

You will lead with vision, expanding advocacy efforts, advancing animal welfare policy and strengthening community ties including with government, humane societies and donors.

What we need of you

This is a high-profile role requiring a strategic, results-oriented leader capable of navigating complex relationships and driving long-term impact and stability.

As the ideal candidate, you are an accomplished leader, having worked in the non-profit sector.

You have executive-level experience in complex, multi-site organizations.

You bring strong business acumen, financial expertise and proven fundraising success.

You excel at balancing operational needs with long-term strategic priorities while maintaining a compassionate, mission-driven approach.

A level-headed problem solver and decisive leader, you assess the big picture, make tough decisions and guide teams through challenges with political acuity, emotional intelligence and a steady and calm presence.

You foster trust and inclusivity, driving results through collaboration and innovation.

Ideally, you have an understanding of the animal welfare sector and its advocacy landscape.
