Executive Director, Communications
Reporting to and working closely with the Vice President, Communications and Government Affairs, you will develop and execute a high impact communications strategy, including plans and tactics that position the association as a thought leader on issues related to healthcare and the industry at large, and that maximize member engagement. Your role will encompass all communications including media relations, internal and external communications, digital properties, social media initiatives, advertising campaigns, corporate publications and information services. You will lead a nimble team of professionals, and liaise with colleagues to ensure accurate, comprehensive, and consistent messaging and effective communications practices across the organization.
As the ideal candidate, you are an experienced and fluently bilingual communications professional who has led and managed teams covering all areas of communications. You are recognized and respected by your peers as a skilled, collaborative and highly credible expert. As a manager and leader, you are team-oriented, resourceful, inclusive and committed to the mentorship and professional development of your staff. Colleagues value your strategic perspective and proactive approach, and regularly call on you for advice on all matters requiring a sophisticated communications lens. At the senior management table, you are an active and engaged participant, voicing concerns, sharing ideas, debating issues, and providing options for the team to consider. Your experience in and/or understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and the Canadian health care system would be an asset, as would your knowledge of government structures and decision-making at the federal and provincial levels. Your ability to communicate effectively in both official languages is a mandatory requirement.
