Executive Director

The Canadian Apprenticeship Forum – Forum canadien sur l’apprentissage (CAF-FCA) is a non-profit organization that connects Canada’s apprenticeship community. Participants work collaboratively to support vibrant and innovative apprenticeship systems and policies with a view to developing a highly-skilled, inclusive and mobile skilled trades workforce. Employers, unions, equity-seeking groups, educational institutions and the jurisdictional apprenticeship authorities support CAF-FCA operations through membership. As a national voice for the apprenticeship community, CAF-FCA influences pan-Canadian apprenticeship strategies through research, discussion and collaboration. It promotes apprenticeship as a valuable form of post-secondary education to youth, parents and employers, leading to rewarding careers in high-demand occupations. We are seeking an Executive Director to lead our team and to be the face of the organization with the community, key partners and stakeholders.

Executive Director

Reporting to the Board of Directors, this role will appeal to leaders who are passionate about promoting apprenticeship as a valued post-secondary pathway and recognize the role of apprenticeship training in creating the workforce Canada needs. The Executive Director will act as the spokesperson for the organization. He/she will contribute to strategic planning and lead the execution of operational and funding development initiatives to achieve results and key milestones. It will be critical in this role to collaborate and build important liaisons with staff, funders, external partners and stakeholders to advance CAF-FCA’s mandate. A demonstrable record of leading complex, multi-constituent organizations, and success anticipating and delivering on programs and services through numerous delivery channels are desirable. Experience working in a volunteer or non-profit organization through a professional staff is key. CAF-FCA’s next leader is a builder and mentor who is passionate about shaping a positive organizational culture and growing an evolving value proposition for its members.

The ideal candidate will have successfully led people, strategy and change in a complex, multi-stakeholder and multi-issue environment. Candidates will bring superior management expertise with a solid record in professional development, advocacy, communications, team development and community relations. Operational experience in a senior leadership role in the not-for-profit or national association/NGO sector, ideally related to education, social services or youth, would be an asset.
