Coordinator, Communications and Marketing

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:

The Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association (ONPHA) is member-based association established to build a strong community-based housing sector in Ontario.  The association represents more than 700 non-profit housing providers who manage over 165,000 housing units for families, seniors, people with disabilities, and the homeless. ONPHA has an annual budget of approximately $3 million and a staff complement of approximately twenty.

 

PURPOSE:

Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where precise communication is critical.  Develop and implement marketing campaigns to support ONPHA’s member engagement and sales efforts. The Coordinator works with relevant teams to ensure that all ONPHA marketing is strategic, member-focused, and results-driven.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Designing and implementing the organization’s marketing plans, campaigns, strategies and materials (print and digital) for:
    • Strategic Partnerships including the Best Deals program
    • Event promotion including the annual ONPHA conference, regional meetings and leadership series
    • Membership acquisition, retention and renewal
    • Educational offerings (online learning, webinars, in-person courses, products, tools and resources)
    • Awards and Scholarships       
  • Working with strategic partners for project execution
  • Communicating and disseminating knowledge including writing, copy-editing and proof-reading stories. Creating taglines and marketing slogans for use in e-newsletters, reports and for social media
  • Other duties include but are not limited to: research, administrative and similar marketing activities, management of paid advertisers, photography, videography and graphic design.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in marketing, communications, journalism or other relevant field
  • Diploma, certificate, or continuing education in marketing, digital communications, graphic design, public relations, journalism, etc.
  • Three or more years of communications and marketing experience; preference for experience in a non-profit or an association
  • Experience creating and assessing multimedia content for multiple audiences: members, public, stakeholders
  • Strong portfolio of creative work showcasing design project experience and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop and other design tools
  • Strong writing, proofreading and copy-editing skills, with experience crafting feature stories, e-newsletters, powerpoint slide decks, reports and social media content; experience with plain language writing
  • Good grasp of HTML5 and CSS3 and understanding of website management, design
  • A storyteller skilled at adapting content to print and digital channels
  • Understanding of government relations and interest in social justice, homelessness/poverty issues, urban planning or current affairs
  • Email marketing software (Informz) are an asset
  • Membership or donor database software (iMIS) are an asset
  • Public speaking or presentation skills
  • Detail-oriented, with project management skills
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

 

Position Type:

This is a 12-month full-time contract position with the possibility of extension.

 

Salary Range:  $ 61,398 to $69,104 per year
