Founded in 1920, the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) is a member-based professional association representing 14,000 physiotherapists, physiotherapy students, physiotherapist assistants, and physiotherapy assistant students across Canada. The CPA plays an important role in presenting the physiotherapist perspective in the national and provincial forums where healthcare, government, political leaders, professional regulators, and educators determine the future of Canada’s healthcare system. At this juncture, CPA seeks a visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to champion the critical role of physiotherapy in providing health care solutions for Canadians.
Reporting to the Board, and with a staff of 23 and a budget of $8 million, the CEO will work with Federal stakeholders and CPA’s Provincial Branches to develop and implement strategies to raise the visibility of the role physiotherapists play in the healthcare continuum. With a focus on membership growth and engagement strategies in an evolving context, the CEO will advocate on key issues around public awareness of the profession, equitable access to physiotherapy, insurance coverage, increased scope of practice, and more. He or she will work with staff to ensure the association remains focused on its core mandate, ensuring revenue models, products and services add value to the profession, and ensure the CPA is operating efficiently and effectively for the benefit of the profession.
As an ideal candidate, you have a proven track record of transforming organizations through strategic leadership. You are proactive, charismatic, and results-oriented with experience delivering tangible benefits to member-based organizations. You bring strong financial acumen and the ability to develop and articulate a vision for the profession of Physiotherapy in Canada. An attentive listener, you build consensus amongst members; identifying and capitalizing on opportunities that drive organizational growth, raise visibility for physiotherapy, and establish a secure and sustainable revenue stream.
A natural relationship builder, you have created a unified national perspective in your sector and bring an understanding of the needs and values of individual branches, divisions, and assemblies. You recognize the importance of strategic alliances and have successfully cultivated a network within healthcare, partner organizations, the media, and provincial/federal governments. You promote internal collaboration, build trust, and create synergies between the Board and staff members through active listening and engagement. You are passionate about healthcare and the critical role physiotherapy plays in patient care.
