Chief Executive Officer

The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies British Columbia, (ACEC-BC) is our Province’s association of engineering consulting firms, representing 85 of BC's consulting engineering companies; organizations that provide engineering and other technology-based intellectual services to the public and private sectors. ACEC-BC firms employ close to 10,000 people in British Columbia comprising engineers, geoscientists, technicians, technologists and other support staff.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President & CEO (CEO) is responsible for the development and implementation of the organization’s long-term strategies and tactical plans as well as the overall management of its day to day operations and employees. The CEO will lead the Association into the next phase of its evolution by growing and broadening membership, building the brand, enhancing the level of advocacy for the industry, and being a knowledgeable and proactive contributor in the public debate on all significant issues affecting member firms.

The CEO oversees the efficient management of the Association’s services and programs, maintains productive working relationships with provincial and regional governments, and is chief advisor to the Board and its committees. Working closely with a small team of professionals, the CEO ensures the Association remains innovative and is constantly looking for new ways to add value to its member firms.

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled association executive, a senior communications / government relations professional, a professional who has held a leadership role within a consulting engineering organization, or an executive from a related industry. He/she has a proven track record of working with diverse stakeholders to further a broad mandate and is seen as a credible, influential and reliable professional who can be trusted. He/she is willing to speak out with confidence, tact, and expert knowledge, with a membership’s best interest at heart.

ACEC-BC’s next CEO will be a seasoned leader with experience running all aspects of an organization, ideally with some understanding of the unique nature of a not-for-profit enterprise. He/she has worked closely with boards of directors to guide strategy development and set priorities.
