President & CEO

Founded in 2006, Electric Mobility Canada (EMC) is a national membership-based not-for-profit organization exclusively dedicated to the electrification of all modes of surface transportation. With a mission to accelerate the transition to electric mobility across Canada, EMC is supported by more than 180-member organizations across 8 provinces, including corporate and industry members as well as energy providers. With growth in mind, Electric Mobility Canada is now searching for its next President & CEO to help shape the industry by providing greater value and impact for its members while championing its overall mission of contributing to Canada’s sustainability goals.

The next President & CEO will continue to develop the vision and strategy to ensure Electric Mobility Canada’s future sustainable growth and help the organization progress in an evolving demographic and policy environment. The new President & CEO will raise the profile of EMC and continuously strengthen its advocacy, presence, and influence by building networks of champions across municipal, provincial, and federal governments, funders, foundations, the corporate private sector and local community partners. The incoming President & CEO will be the public face of the organization and, at the federal government level, will continue to engage with the key players in various Departments, including Transport, Environment and Climate Change, Natural Resources, and Finance as well as with the staff from the Treasury Board and the Prime Minister’s Office.

As the ideal candidate, you are passionate, entrepreneurial, a consensus builder and business-minded with proven success in both building and growing organizations. You are a champion for sustainability and know how to consistently demonstrate value and commonality to diverse stakeholder groups. Your credibility is supported by your strong financial acumen and relationship building skills. You lead by example to set the tone and culture of the organization and set key strategic objectives in conjunction with the Board and other stakeholders. Key components of success include ensuring a strong and sustained bond with current and future members, improved and coherent messaging to provincial and federal governments, as well as achieving policy wins across the country.

Flexible, diplomatic, and dynamic, you thrive in taking organizations to the next level and you have relevant experience in a senior leadership role, ideally in a membership driven organization. You are an excellent communicator and you have established relationships with key stakeholders including the federal and provincial governments, academia, industry and non-governmental organizations. Your experience in executing change management, revenue generation, policy, standards, and advocacy is a fundamental pillar of success. Fluency in both official languages is required. The incumbent can be based anywhere in Canada.
