Member Engagement Coordinator

Established in 1963 and located in Burlington, the Ontario Dental Hygienists' Association (ODHA) advocates for and supports the profession. 

ODHA is a small and collaborative workplace.  Staff are flexible and interested in supporting each other’s work.  Success of the ODHA depends, in part, on our reputation and public profile as a credible organization and staff take great care in the organization’s service, products and communications.

Key responsibilities:

  • Engage in membership activities related to recruitment, engagement, retention and promotion
  • Member outreach electronically, in person, by phone and in print
  • Proactively promote member benefits and services
  • Develop substantial familiarity with database software and functionality
  • Draft, organize and update website content
  • Become an internal expert at the membership management and reporting tools within the association, troubleshoot membership data issues and work with suppliers to ensure accurate and timely membership data
  • Obtain a thorough understanding of the benefits, products and services offered by the association and be comfortable discussing and answering questions
  • Work with the Member Support & Executive Coordinator to engage benefit and third-party service providers to ensure the best overall member benefit and services package
  • Contribute to the development of, and execute the use of communication scripts to ensure consistent, professional messaging and support to all members and prospective members
  • Prepare reports, summaries, analyses related to all member initiatives
  • Engage members and prospective members at conferences and meetings
  • Support other association activities as identified and assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Member-first mindset and focus on customer service and engagement
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a calm, cool, and clear manner and de-escalate situations in a customer-service role
  • Ability to assimilate, analyze and document information in a clear, cogent, accurate and concise manner
  • Advanced technical skills and proven proficiency with technology including MS Office applications (most specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and other computer software including Mail Chimp
  • Expertise with social media platforms
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, adjust priorities, problem solve, complete projects on time and handle stress in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable in a small office setting
  • At least 3 to 5 years of relevant practical experience in a membership-based or non-profit organization
  • There may be evening and weekend work involved
  • Oral and written French proficiency at an advanced level would be an asset
  • Health care knowledge would be an asset

Pay commensurate with level of skill and experience.  Those candidates selected for an interview will be expected to provide salary expectations and three references of which at least two must have been or currently be a direct report.
