YSB is a multi-service agency that provides services in French and English in employment, health and housing, mental health, youth engagement and youth justice. We work in partnership to develop, deliver and advocate for better conditions, services and opportunities for youth and families. We receive funding from the Province of Ontario, the City of Ottawa, the United Way, and generous private donors. Due to the upcoming retirement of our incumbent, YSB is currently seeking an exceptional individual to assume the role of

Reporting to the Executive Director, and as a member of the Senior Management Team, the Associate Executive Director provides leadership and strategic direction to the programs and services of YSB in accordance with its mandate, vision and strategic plan. Possessing proven leadership experience in the non-profit communities we serve, the successful candidate will have primary responsibilities ensuring YSB’s systems and structures are efficient, effective and coordinated, including the successful implementation of the Strategic Plan, and will act for the Executive Director in their absence. Participation on local and provincial committees of external partners, as well as advocating YSB needs to stakeholders and community members to gain support and funding will also be vital roles this executive will play.  As YSB is the Ministry of Health & Long-term Care (MOHLTC) lead agency for child and youth mental health in Ottawa, leading and supporting system planning work as well as the quality assurance and clinical/statistical reporting mechanisms and processes at YSB will be a key responsibility of this leader.

The ideal candidate will bring with them proven leadership in both the business and social service sense. A Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or a related field (or equivalent), along with ten years’ experience working in a social service environment focused on youth and their families (five of those years as a supervisor/manager) would be required. Demonstrated expertise in human resources, financial and strategic planning, as well as youth programming, development and evaluation would also bring value to the role. A proven team leader and role model, this individual must possess a systems-level view, a forensic mind and filter, as well as be a direct, transparent and honest communicator. Continued collaboration with external agencies will be key, as will a LEAN mentality towards managing change. A compassionate, empathetic and values-based leadership style is a significant asset to bring to this role.
